Silent Features of Recruitment Drive for Armed Forces

RECRUITMENT DRIVE FOR ARMED FORCES

(a): Recruitment rallies are conducted in different parts of the country to provide opportunity to youth from these areas to join the Armed Forces. Efforts are made to cover entire country including remote and tribal areas. Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Medical Test are conducted at Rally site. Common Entrance Examination is held for selected candidates in PFT, PMT and Medical and finally selected candidate are despatched to concerned training centres.

(b): Recruitment in the Armed Forces is a continuous/ongoing process. Efforts are made to cover the entire country.

(c): Presently there is no proposal to open any new recruitment centre.

(d): Details of relaxations for candidates of tribal/ hilly areas and other backward areas are as under:-


Army:

(i) Physical Relaxation : Details of physical standard for general candidates and relaxed standard for candidates of tribal / hilly areas are as under:

(ii) Educational Relaxation : Details of educational requirement for general candidates and relaxed educational requirement for candidates of tribal / hilly areas are as under:

(A) General Candidates: Class X Pass with 45% aggregate and 33% in each subject.

(B) Relaxed Standards:

(I) Simple class X Pass instead of 45% aggregate and 33% in each subject is permitted for candidates from following areas:

(a) J&K State: All Districts of J&K excluding Jammu, Sambha and Kathua Districts.

(b) Uttrakhand State: Batwari Tehsil of Uttarkashi District, Okhimath Tehsil of Rudraprayag District, Joshimath Tehsil of Chamoli District, Berinag Didihat, Dharchula and Munsiari Tehsils of Pithoragarh District.

(c) Himachal Pradesh: District of Kannaur, Lahul-Spiti.

(d) Gujarat: Rapar and Lakhpat Tehsils of Kutch District.

(e) North Eastern States: State of Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya,

Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland.

(f) Rajasthan: Jaisalmer and Barmer District and Shergarh Osian and Phalaudi Tehsils of Jodhpur District.

(g) Andaman & Nicobar Group of Islands: Settlers.

(h) Lakshadweep & Minicoy Gp of Islands

(i) Class/Community: All Gorkhas.

(II) Class VIII Passis permitted for candidates from following areas:

(a) Sikkim

(b) Andaman & Nicobar Group of Islands: Tribals and Aboriginals.

(c) North Eastern States: Arunachal Pradesh.

(d) Class/Community: Scheduled Tribes from all States of India.

(iii) Physical Tests: Provision exists for award of extra time for 1.6 km Run Physical test for candidates hailing from Hilly Terrain as per the geographical status given below:

(a) Between 5000 ft to 9000 ft - Additional 30 secs.

(b) Between 9000 ft to 12000 ft – Additional 120 secs.

Navy: There are no relaxations in educational standards. However, details of physical standard for general candidates and relaxed standard for candidates of tribal / hilly areas are as under:

(c) whether the Government proposes to open new recruitment centres in various parts of the country including Punjab and if so, the details thereof; and

(d) whether any concession in recruitment is given to candidates from tribal / hilly areas and if so, the details thereof?
