EMPLOYMENT TO WOMEN THROUGH EMPLOYMENT EXCHANGES

Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to state:

(a) the number of unemployed women including rural/urban women registered in various Employment Exchanges in the country during the last three years and the current year, year-wise and State/UT-wise including Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh;

(b) the details of employment provided to them through these Employment Exchanges during the said period State/UT-wise;

(c) whether the process of providing employment to women by these Exchanges is not satisfactory and if so, whether the Government has any proposal to upgrade/strengthened the employment exchanges in the country and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefore;

(d) whether the Government has identified certain areas wherein women can be more employable and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the other steps taken by the Government to create more employment opportunities particularly for women in the country including imparting of various training to increase their employability?

(a) & (b): As per information received from the states, state-wise details of rural and urabn women job seekers, all of whom may not necessarily be unemployed, registered with employment exchanges in the country including Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh as on 31st December for the year 2012, 2013 and 2014 and details of employment provided to them through these employment exchanges during the said period are at Annex.

(c): Employment Exchanges sponsor candidates against the vacancies notified by the employers. Moreover, Directorate General of Employment, Ministry of Labour and Employment is implementing the National Career Service (NCS) Project as a Mission Mode Project for transforming the National Employment Service to provide a variety of employment related services like career counseling, vocational guidance, information on skill development courses, apprenticeship, internships, etc. The NCS Portal is supported by call center/helpdesk and has multi delivery channel including employment exchanges. In the NCS Project, it is proposed to establish 100 Model Career Centre to provide a variety of employment related services including counseling services.

(d) & (e): Government has taken various steps to improve status of women workers, to provide training and employment exclusively to women under Skill Development, one National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) at Noida, Uttar Pradesh and ten Regional Vocational Training Institutes (RVTIs) have been set up across the Country, the sanctioned seating capacity of these institutes, the targets fixed for providing skill training for the year 2014-15 were fixed at 3260 seats. The Government has approved 8 new Regional Vocational Training Institutes for Women in the States where there is no existing RVTI. The Government has also formulated the National Portal on Skill Development and Entrepreneurship for focusing on skilling of workforce and enhancing their employability.
