STEPS TO ATTRACT YOUTH INTO THE ARMY

190. SHRIMATI VANDANA CHAVAN: 

Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state: 

(a) what are the steps taken by Government to attract more youth into the Army and the details thereof; 

(b) whether Government is planning to open more National Defence Academies, if so, the details thereof; and 

(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

ANSWER

MINISTER OF DEFENCE 

SHRI MANOHAR PARRIKAR 

(a) Government has undertaken sustained image projection campaign to create awareness among the youth on the advantages of taking up a challenging and satisfying career. Awareness campaigns, participation in career fairs and exhibitions, advertisements in print and electronic media, motivational lectures in schools, colleges are some of the measures in this direction. 

(b) & (c): Presently, there is no proposal to open new National Defence Academies as no such requirement is envisaged. However, enhancement of the current strength of the existing National Defence Academy has been initiated.

क्या रक्षा मंत्री यह बताने की कृपा करेंगे कि :

(क) सरकार ने अधिक युवाओं को सेना की सेवा की ओर आकर्षित करने के लिए क्या कदम उठाये हैं तथा तत्संबंधी ब्यौरा क्या है ;

(ख) क्या सरकार और अधिक राष्ट्रीय रक्षा अकादमी खोलने की योजना बना रही है, यदि हां, तो तत्संबंधी ब्यौरा क्या है ; और

(ग) यदि नहीं, तो इसके क्या कारण हैं?

(क): एक चुनौतीपूर्ण और संतोषजनक रोजगार लेने के लाभों के बारे में युवाओं के बीच जागरूकता सृजित करने के लिए सरकार ने सतत् रूप से छवि निर्माण अभियान शुरू किया है । जागरूकता अभियान रोजगार मेलों और प्रदर्शनियों में भागीदारी प्रिंट व इलेक्ट्रानिक मीडिया में विज्ञापन, विद्यालयों, कॉलेजों में प्रेरणादायी व्याख्यान इस दिशा में किए गए कुछ उपाय हैं ।

(ख) और (ग): वर्तमान में नई राष्ट्रीय रक्षा अकादमी खोलने का कोई प्रस्ताव नहीं है क्योंकि ऐसी कोई जरूरत महसूस नहीं की गई है । तथापि, राष्ट्रीय रक्षा अकादमी के मौजूदा संख्या बल को बढ़ाया गया है ।
