Impact of Demonetisation on Job Market

Will the Minister of

LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to state:-

(a)the total number of daily wage labourers employed in the Government as well as private sector in the country, State/UT-wise;

(b)whether the unorganised sector in the country has witnessed a huge job loss due to demonetisation;

(c)if so, the details thereof along with the steps taken/being taken by the Government to protect the unorganized sector from further job loss;

(d)whether the Government has conducted any study to assess the impact of demonetisation on the job market and if so, the details and the outcome thereof along with the number of workers/jobs affected or likely to be affected as a result thereof; and

(e)the remedial steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (e) OF THE LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 49 FOR ANSWER ON 06.02.2017 REGARDING IMPACT OF DEMONETISATION ON JOB MARKET. 

(a) Daily wage labourers are engaged directly by the establishments based on their respective needs. Data regarding total number of daily wage labourers employed in the Government as well as private sector is not centrally maintained. 

(b) to (d) There is no such input available with this Ministry nor any study has been conducted in this regard.
